Layla Mertz

Hello! My name is Layla, and I’m a violinist and violin teacher.

I’ve recently begun teaching and absolutely love it. I’m a patient, encouraging teacher who wants every student to enjoy the music they play while becoming the best musician they can be.

I have performed in programs such as AHEP, SHEP, the Tagiev Chamber Orchestra, and I’m currently a first violinist in the Queensland Youth Symphony (QYO).

I welcome students of all ages in the beginner to intermediate range, and I’m committed to supporting every student on their musical journey.

Lesson fee: $50 for 60 minutes or $30 for 30mins

Location: Tutoring from my home studio in Drewvale

I have been accepted into Griffith University’s Bachelor of Music—accepted at age 15 and beginning my degree at 16—and was honoured to receive the Raoul P. Neil and Airdree P. Neil Foundation Scholarship. I have completed Year 10 at John Paul College, where I was widely involved in all areas of the Performing Arts. I bring almost 10 years of experience in musical leadership, ensemble performance, and AMEB examinations.
