Bio

SOMAP – School of Music and Performance by Suzie G is an award-winning music school, recognized with the Encore Star 2025 Teacher/School Creativity Award. We provide high-quality tuition in violin, viola, cello (beginner to advanced), beginner piano, and music theory.

SOMAP focuses on performance skills, preparing students for exams, auditions, eisteddfods, and ensemble and community performances.

We also run fun and engaging string holiday workshops for beginner through advanced students.

Our ethos is to work hard, achieve results, and enjoy music in a friendly, creative, and supportive environment.

The school runs, Monday-Friday from 3.30pm-6pm and on  Saturdays  from 7.30am -6pm. We take students from age 5 and above.

Teaching Info

Each lesson with Suzie G is tailor-made to suit the individual needs and level of the student. Prior to starting lessons, all students will receive a SOMAP Studio Policy document to complete.

Lessons are billed upfront at the beginning of each term. At the start of the term, students will receive a term overview, outlining their goals and the material to be covered. Each student will also be provided with a practice sheet to set practice targets and track progress.

A variety of repertoire and techniques will be taught, and students will be regularly assessed to monitor their development. All students are encouraged to participate in the end-of-semester student soiree, studio concerts, as well as local competitions and exams, providing valuable performance experience and opportunities for growth.
